Fist Full Of Comics (volume 2)

Fist Full Of Comics (volume two) is a six-issue comics anthology zine edited by Owen Heitmann. It focused primarily (but not exclusively) on printing work by South Australian creators. Issues 2, 3 and 4 are completely sold out. All stories are self-contained, so you can sample any single issue without missing out on part of a larger story. Want to get your hands on one or more of these gems? You’re in luck:

Combined, the six issues contain 77 comics by a total of 47 Australian and international creators. The list of contributors includes prominent writers and artists such as Jase Harper (Awkwood), Greg Holfeld (Captain Congo), Dan McGuiness (Pilot and Huxley), Darren Koziol (Decay), Loren Morris (Doom Bunny and the Monster Catchers), Ian C. Thomas (Moth & Tanuki), Jen Breach and Trevor Wood (Sawbones), Simon Gray (Charles and the Eggman), Dave Hodson (Anyhowtown), Brendan Boyd (Heartlands) and Mark Hobby (Job Dun: Fat Assassin).

Comics printed in Fist Full Of Comics volume two encompass drama, parody, auto-bio, sci-fi, fantasy and cheap gags. A special feature in this series is that each issue features a two-page comics poem as the centre-spread—a tradition that initially evolved by chance!

Owen Heitmann (editor) explained the origin of Fist Full Of Comics and the “volume two” label as follows:

Fist Full Of Comics originally began circa 2006 (initially as the brainchild of David Milne and subsequently helmed by Sarah Milne with Dan McGuiness). After a hiatus of some time, I brought it back from the dead (with the blessing of the previous editorial team) as six bi-monthly issues throughout 2009.

Fist Full Of Comics volume two aimed to build and improve on the solid foundation established by the previous incarnation. My intention was to provide an outlet for both emerging and established creators to showcase their work, develop and refine their skills, and share contacts and information… all while enjoying themselves and entertaining readers.

Although I was a frequent contributor to Fist Full Of Comics volume one, I had no editorial involvement with the preceding or subsequent volumes—I only helmed the six issues listed on this site.

The editorial email address printed on the inside back cover of each issue of Fist Full Of Comics volume two is no longer in use. If you have any feedback or questions, please use this contact form.
